According to the Torah, man was created to actualize his potential. But true self-actualization does not come about by focusing on oneself but rather by transcending oneself. By focusing outside of ourselves, to love and to care for the needs of others, we fulfill exactly what the Torah is teaching us and the whole purpose of creation.

Therefore, the JCLL, based on the wisdom of the Torah, is a centre for character building. We are well aware that character is not a taught discipline in society today and that the most basic principles of integrity, humility and kindness are being lost to dishonesty, arrogance and greed. The more one perfects his or her character, the closer one gets to oneself, to others and ultimately, to G–d.

The JCLL is both a refreshing reminder and a vital key to reclaiming our position in the world as being "society's role model".
